P&O Announces the Godmother of Arvia

P&O Cruises has revealed the identity of Arvia's godmother.
Following a series of teaser videos on Twitter on Wednesday, P&O Cruises> has named none other than American singer-songwriter and television personality Nicole Scherzinger as the godmother of Arvia.
Nicole Scherzinger is the godmother of P&O Cruises' newest ship, Arvia.
“It is an extraordinary privilege for us to work with someone of Nicole’s talent and calibre”, said Paul Ludlow, President of P&O Cruises.
Scherzinger will double up as an entertainment partner, singer and performer. “As a global superstar, Nicole is well placed to create contemporary and breathtaking late-night shows, which will be performed in SkyDome on our two newest ships, Iona and Arvia.”
“Through her many appearances on some of the UK’s best-loved shows, Nicole has won the hearts of the British public. She really is the epitome of zest for life, and as a critically-acclaimed talent, she joins a line-up of world-famous godmothers and partners for P&O Cruises. Her involvement reflects everything P&O stands for - a modern, forward-thinking holiday company that has always excelled in the levels of cutting-edge entertainment we provide.”
Appointing a godmother is a long-standing cruise tradition. Past P&O godmothers include Dame Helen Mirren, Darcey Bussell, and even the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Scherzinger said, “This is an extraordinary opportunity for me to create a visual and musical feast for people to immerse themselves in, with the sea as their backdrop. I want to create an experience to remember for the guests of Iona and Arvia, and I am delighted to do so as part of the P&O Cruises family.”
“I have always felt like an honorary Brit, and to be asked to name Arvia in Barbados really is the icing on the cake. I cannot wait to perform my godmother duties in one of the most beautiful Caribbean locations.”
Scherzinger will name the ship at a spectacular beachside ceremony on 16 March. The ceremony will be hosted by Sarah Cox and DJ Trevor Nelson and include a special guest performance from Olly Murs.
